SwarmsSwarm Removal & Relocation from Bush or Tree
Swarms are a brand new cluster of bees that have just left their old hive and are looking for a place to build a new home. Swarms temporarily form a ball or cluster of bees in a tree or other structure until their scouts find a suitable place to build a permanent home. Swarms are generally easy to remove, they usually just require a shaking, scooping or brushing into a small hive (nuc) or a box. Once the queen is in the box with them, they will all march inside and can be easily taken away. |

Hives in a tree hollowHives in a tree hollow require a Trap-out.
A Trap-outs entail placing a hardware cloth (steel mesh) cone over the entrance of the hive so the bees can leave the hive but they cannot get back in. They will get really confused and be unruly for a couple days. A trap-out has to stay in place for 6-8 weeks in order for all the bees to fully exit and take up residence in the new hive that will be placed close to the entrance. After the trap-out is finished, the new hive is sealed-up and the bees are taken away to our Honeybee Ranch in Safety Harbor. |
Why Rescue Them, Anyway?
Colony collapse disorder (or CCD) is a phenomenon in which worker bees from a beehive or European honeybee colony abruptly disappear. While such disappearances have occurred throughout the history of apiculture, the term colony collapse disorder was first applied to a drastic rise in the number of disappearances of Western honeybee colonies in North America in late 2006. Aside from fundamental concerns about the survival of bee species, colony collapse is economically significant because many agricultural crops worldwide are pollinated by bees. Why is it so bad to poison bees? It's only one bee hive.
Once a hive is exterminated all of the bees protecting that hive's honey are dead there are no bees left to stop other neighboring bees from taking the honey back to their hive where they feed it to the babies and their Queen. Killing one hive can have a devastating effect on the local bee populations because of there can be as many as 100 honey bee colonies per square mile in our area. Unfortunately some people tend to turn to exterminators in such a situation because it is a quick solution which seems easier than having them removed and relocated by a professional. We rescue bees and we specialize in proper live bee removal and relocation without harming them.
We ask you to follow a compassionate approach to solving your live bee problem by having them removed and relocated instead of using dangerous pesticides to kill them?
